Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns odds, picks and predictions

The Denver Nuggets (13-6) take on the Phoenix Suns (11-7) Friday with tip-off from Footprint Center set for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Nuggets vs. Suns odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; tied 2-2 last regular season; Denver beat Phoenix 4-2 in the playoffs

The defending champs won their 3rd in a row Wednesday with a 134-124 final over the Houston Rockets. They failed to cover a -10.5 after 2 straight covers. Speaking of coverage, Denver is just 2-8 ATS over the last 10 games. G Jamal Murray played his 1st game in nearly a month Wednesday and had 16 points, 6 boards and 6 dimes. This team is still led by C Nikola Jokic, who is averaging 29 PPG, 13.2 RPG and 9.2 APG.

The Suns lost to the Toronto Raptors Wednesday 112-105 and failed to cover as -3.5-point favorites. G Devin Booker had his worst game of the year with just 8 points on 2-for-12 shooting. He’s questionable for this one with an ankle malady.

Nuggets at Suns picks and predictions

Nuggets 111, Suns 105

Booker turned his ankle in the last game, left for a bit and came back and wasn’t much of a factor. To me, that gives the Nuggets the slight edge here. Phoenix won all 4 home games during the regular season and the playoffs against the Nuggets, but Booker at less than 100 percent moves the needle the other way.

You can take the Nuggets ML at -130 here, but I’ll PASS and look to the spread.

Against the spread

The Nuggets are just 2-8 ATS on the road, but this is a miniscule amount of points to lay if you’re on board with Denver here.

Take the NUGGETS -2.5 (-105).

The Suns are 12-6 O/U this year, and the Nuggets are 7-12. The matchups in Phoenix last year went Over once and Under once. Both totals were lower than this one is projected for. Booker potentially out, and Murray still working his way back makes me LEAN UNDER 225.5 (-115).
