Fair City’s Maria Oxley Boardman expecting her first child

Maria Oxley Boardman will be missing from the streets of Carrigstown for a little while as she prepares to welcome her first child to the world.

The actress, known for her role as Dearbhla Dillon in the hit RTÉ soap, is pregnant and has left the show to go on maternity leave.

RSVP magazine has confirmed Maria has filmed her final scenes after eagle-eyed Fair City viewers spotted her baby bump on the show.

A source told the publication: ‘Maria is heading on maternity leave as she prepares to welcome a baby. The RTÉ costume department worked very hard to hide her growing bump while filming scenes on set over the last few months.’

‘However, eagle-eyed fans of the show were quick to speculate that she was, in fact, pregnant and they were quick to share their comments on social media.’

As the insider put it, there must be something in the water in Carrigstown as Maria’s not the only star preparing to welcome a little one.

Real life Fair City couple Shane Quigley and Connie Doona, who respectively star as Gareth Boyle and Zoe Allen in the soap, are expecting their first child together.

Meanwhile Ryan Andrews, who plays Sean Cassidy in Fair City, and his wife Michaela O’Neill are also expecting their first child. The couple unveiled their baby news during a romantic trip to New York City back in April.

Congratulations are in order all round!
