A very interesting maiden. TREASURE ISLE is the only one with experience and may put that to good use here, although Saratoga Special, Queens Fury and Lovely all come from yards respected for their juveniles and are speedily-bred so the market should prove informative.

A Group 2-winning juvenile, AESOP’S FABLES (nap) sets a high standard based on last season’s placed form in top-level sprints. On better ground, and with the run under his belt, he can reverse recent C&D form with The Highway Rat. Betsen excelled himself at Navan but will need to improve again to cope with older rivals here. Dun Na Sead signed off last year on a high at Dundalk and is a speedy front-running type who could last home for a share of the money.

Impressive when defeating Fairy Godmother over C&D last month, SPARKLING SEA is taken to confirm the form here. Potential dangers from all sids though, notably from Barnavara and the Dundalk pair Usdi Atohi and California Dreamer.

With a possible edge in terms of race-fitness and a more progressive profile YOSEMITE VALLEY gets the vote to see off the reappearing Tarawa, with Mutasarref next best.

Several of these likely Commonwealth Cup-bound, notably last year’s impressive Phoenix Stakes winner BUCANERO FUERTE who concedes just 3lb and with the ground in his favour looks the one to beat. Givemethebeatboys has a possible race-fitness edge after a recent Navan win (three of these rivals behind) and looks the danger.

This looks open but perhaps veteran trainer Kevin Prendergast can strike with PROFIT REFUSED whose opening mark of 85 looks fair, given the company she kept at two. Soldier’s Empire, Barnso and Raknah have decent AW form. Air Commander should be capable of better than on his handicap debut.

Colin Keane rides Genuine Article, his father’s acquisition from Dermot Weld. That arrangement is undeniably noteworthy, but Gary Carroll won on MR KING last season and the Ger Lyons-trained gelding may step up a place after a pleasing second in an apprentice handicap at Cork. Exquisite Acclaim boasts a fine Dundalk record but has seldom shown much on turf. Wigmore Street is hard to assess but it would be premature to write him off.

Newcomers Golden Ocean and Siege Of Troy (the last-named holds big-race engagements) are interesting, but the experience gained at two by SETTLEMENT may be crucial. She should be seen to better effect on good ground after ending last season with an unplaced run on heavy.
