LIVE Purdue basketball vs. Indiana updates, score, highlights from Big Ten game on FOX

It’s round 2 of Purdue vs. Indiana in men’s basketball tonight.

The No. 2-ranked Boilermakers come into the matchup on a seven-game win streak and a 21-2 overall record (10-2 Big Ten). IU is 14-9 overall and 6-6 in conference play.

Earlier in the season, Purdue notched an 87-66 win at Indiana. Will the Hoosiers be able to avenge that loss?

14:54 left 2H: Purdue opens second half on big run

Purdue scored 10 straight points to begin the second half. That streak was broken at 15:32 when Kel’el Ware made a 3-pointer.

Purdue 47, Indiana 28

A couple of minutes into the second half, there hasn’t been much scoring. Trey Kaufman-Renn made a jumper and a free throw. IU has not scored.

Purdue 40, Indiana 25

IU held an early lead but that didn’t last. Purdue was led by Braden Smith’s 15 points and 6 assists. Zach Edey put up 12 points and 8 rebounds.

Purdue is shooting 44% from the floor while Indiana is at 41%. IU has missed all 3 of its 3-point attempts. Purdue, on the other hand, is 3-13 (23%).

IU’s Trey Galloway missed two straight free throws, which means free chicken for those at Mackey Arena.

Coming out of the break, Zach Edey made a free throw to give Purdue a 23-18 advantage. At 5:49, Braden Smith hit a 3-pointer to give the Boilermakers their largest lead in this one at 26-18. Kel’el Ware has 2 fouls for IU and went to the bench.

Purdue was on a 7-0 run before a Payton Sparks free throw broke that. Zach Edey, however, came back with a dunk. Myles Colvin, the freshman, hit a 3-pointer to give Purdue a 32-19 lead at 3:32.

Zach Edey’s free throw at 8:51 gave Purdue its largest lead of the game at 4 points. At 8:23, Kel’el Ware threw down a dunk to cut the Boilermakers’ lead to 20-18.

Purdue 22, Indiana 18

Purdue took its first lead of the game at the 13:28 mark when Braden Smith scored on a layup to make it 13-12. Less than a minute later, Smith scored on another layup to give Purdue a 6-0 run. Smith leads all scorers with 8 points.

Purdue 15, Indiana 12

Indiana is holding its own so far, though it’s just a 1-point lead a few minutes into the game. The Hoosiers have led the entire way. Malik Reneau has 4 points for IU while Zach Edey has 5 points for the Boilermakers.

While he was officially listed as questionable, Kel’el Ware will start for IU.
