MANILA, Philippines — Cebuano hunk Michael Angelo Toledo was proclaimed Mister Fitness Supermodel World Philippines at the Misters of Filipinas pageant held in October last year, poised to represent the country in a new international competition. But as it turns out, the global tilt is a twin contest for men and women.
And now the mister has found his miss with the designation of actress and event host Kristel Galang as his female counterpart for the inaugural edition of the Miss and Mister Fitness Supermodel World competition, scheduled to take place in Vietnam in May.
Galang was officially proclaimed as Miss Fitness Supermodel World Philippines at the “2023 Kickstart” program hosted by Prime Event Productions Philippines (PEPPS) Foundation Inc. at the grand ballroom of Winford Manila Resort and Casino in Manila on Feb. 28. She is a homegrown talent of the foundation who has hosted numerous live events and pageants, and has appeared in a digital series.
Toledo and Galang were called together on stage when the announcement was made. The female aspirant also joined the cast members of “Forever Yours” when the upcoming digital series was showcased in the event.
The male contender, meanwhile, joined his fellow reigning Misters of Filipinas kings when updates about the annual male competition’s 10th edition were presented. Toledo will be following the strong showing of his fellow 2022 titleholder Jovy Bequillo who took home the top prize in the Man Hot Star International contest in Thailand in December last year, and 2019 winner Vandave Paragas who finished third in the male division of the I Am Model Search in Malaysia in January.
PEPPS said the Miss and Mister Fitness Supermodel World competition aims to create “a platform for young people who are passionate about sports and fashion,” and “expected to help promote images of Vietnamese culture and tourism to international friends.”
Toledo and Galang are set to fly to the southern Vietnamese province of Binh Huan on May 12 when all the other delegates are expected to converge in the Southeast Asian country. The inaugural edition of the Miss and Mister Fitness Supermodel World competition will hold its final event on May 22. EDV
