More than Rs 1,000 crore betting in Andhra Pradesh on Telangana assembly election results – Times of India

VISAKHAPATNAM: The betting market in Bhimavaram, located about 105 km from Vijayawada is known for the heavy betting on anything and everything – from elections to IPL, cock fights to even cyclones.
Betting is widespread not only in Bhimavaram and its surroundings but also in Coastal Andhra Pradesh where hundreds of landlords, businessmen, and industrialists stay.
The betting turnover in Bhimavaram and its surrounding Delta areas during the Cricket World Cup was more than between Rs. 1500 crore to Rs 2000 crore. Now, around Rs 400 crore amount was wagered on the results of the Telangana assembly elections before the polls and a few hundred after polls, Satta Bazaar sources said.
Only a few hours left for the election results, the prediction by the Satta Bazar in coastal Andhra favours Congress, which is expected to get anywhere between 67 to 82 seats. Punters put huge money into Congress and also on bigwigs in Congress, BRS, and even BJP in a different way. Apart from that whether BRS scores a hattrick, who will be CM, which party will get how many seats, and even on the chances of Hung Assembly.
Coastal AP’s nine districts wagered around Rs. 400 crore before the poll and another above 1000 crore were placed after the polls, according to the sources in the betting market. They said the stakes are high in undivided West and East Godavari districts, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore, and Visakhapatnam.
Punters’ hot favorites are Revanth Reddy (Congress) from Kamareddy and Kodangal constituencies, CM KCR from Gajvel, ministers KTR from Sirisilla, Harish Rao from Siddipet and constituencies such as Dubbaka (Raghunandan Rao of BJP), Huzurabad (Etela Rajender of BJP), Serilingampalli, Uppal, Malkajgiri, Jubilee Hills, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Karimnagar (Bandi Sanjay of BJP) and others.
Stakes on hattrick wins of KCR, Revanth Reddy to become CM, BJP will win below six seats, MIM confined to four seats and BRS seats would be reduced to only four in Hyderabad Metropolitan Region and Pavan Kalyan’s Janasena would not get deposits in all contesting eight seats, except Kukatpally area where Kapu community votes are high, punters said. A few people put money on Sirisha alias Barrelakka so that she would get deposits. Betting was high for the seats in Hyderabad and the seats close to the AP areas.
The betting amount was huge on CM’s post. Many put bets on Revanth Reddy who is predicted to be appointed as chief minister of Telangana. Others put on bets Batti Vikramarka and Sridhar Babu. The stakes are high here Rs. 2 for Revanth, who addressed the public in around 90 election meetings, Rs. 5 for Batti Vikramarka, and Rs. 7 for Sridhar Babu, who prepared the Congress manifesto. While it was 1:10 on KCR’s hattrick wins in Gajvel means one rupee on KCR’s win and Rs. 10 for his defeat. While it is 1:5 on other top leaders in other constituencies.
