The Masters Preview
The 87th edition of the Masters is right around the corner and couldn’t be coming at a better time for golf fans. 2023 has proven to be a fine year on the PGA Tour.
Jon Rahm (8/1) notched a third win of the year at the Genesis Invitational last month and currently sits in third spot in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Scottie Scheffler (7/1) is cruising at the top of the leaderboard with Rory McIlroy (15/2) just one spot behind.
In a third-place play-off at the World Matchplay earlier this month, McIlroy beat Scheffler 2&1 with a new putter and shorter driver shaft in the bag after missing the cut at The Players.
The three main favourites are separated by quite some distance to Jordan Speith (18/1) and Cameron Smith (20/1), with plenty of value on offer this week.
Augusta is poised to deliver some of the best entertainment of the sporting year. Here is who we think has the best chance of winning and making it all the way to the final group on Sunday.

The Masters Tip 1: Rory McIlroy To Win @ 15/2 With BetUK
Our first selection and best bet to win the Masters to complete a career grand slam is none other than Rory McIlroy.
The Green Jacket has eluded the 33-year-old to date, who is making his 15th Masters appearance and has seven top ten finishes in the last nine years at Augusta.
A final round disaster where he shot 80 (eight-over-par) handed Charl Schwartzel a shock victory in 2011 and the Holywood-born star has been out for revenge ever since.
Tied for eighth in 2014, fourth in 2015, tied seventh in 2017, tied fifth in 2018 and 2020 and last year’s runner-up spot hint that McIlroy is closer than ever to a first title at Augusta.
McIlroy began 2023 with an emphatic win at the Dubai Desert Classic, later finished tied for second at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and reached the World Matchplay semi-final last week.
At a price of 15/2, Rory McIlroy is our leading tip to win the Masters.
The Masters Tip 2: Sam Burns To Win And Each-Way @ 33/1 With BetUK
Our each-way selection at next week’s Masters is Sam Burns at a price of 33/1, the winner of the WGC Matchplay – thumping Cameron Young 6&5 in the final.
After sending defending champion Scottie Scheffler for an early bath, Burns picked up eight birdies in ten holes from the fourth onwards. Also a Valspar Championship winner in 2021 and 2022, Burns is quickly becoming a prominent figure in the game.
Burns has broken back into the top ten of the World Golf Rankings and will need to carry his good form to Augusta where he failed to make the cut last year.
Despite underwhelming performances in majors to date, his recent victory could be exactly what he needs to kickstart a proper run at the Green Jacket.
Other Notable Mentions
Although McIlroy and Burns are our biggest fancies for success this week, here are some other notable players who we think have a good chance at a great price:
Collin Morikawa @ 20/1, Will Zalatoris @ 33/1, Shane Lowry @ 50/1 and Rickie Fowler @ 60/1. All prices are with BetUK.
